CLUBS AND ACTIVITIES

  • Subject Association

    Language and literature forum of the college conduct various activities to develop students’ Marathi, Hindi and English language skills, to enhance thinking capacity and to encourage healthy reading skills. ‘Marathi Bhasha Sanwardhan Pandharwada’, ‘Hindi Pakhwada’, ‘Marathi Rajbhasha Din’, ‘Shakespeare Day’, and frequently conducted workshops on writing skills and various creative programmes are the features of this forum.

  • NCC

    The National Cadet Corps undertakes various activities for the students like Cycle Rally, Republic Day Parade, Blood Donation Camps, Mountaineering, Tree Plantation Programs, Wake-Up India Run, AIDS Awareness Rally, Safety Week, Elocution Competitions, and Educational Tours to different places of significance. Students also participate in a variety of camps like Army Attachment Camp, IGC Sports Camp, ATC Camp, TCC Camp-Daily, PRERD Camp, TSC Sports Camp Nagpur, etc.

  • NSS

    Like other clubs and activities, NSS also adds to the versatile development of students. Students’ participation is huge in competitions and on the occasion of Kranti-Din Youth Freedom Rally, Tree Plantation program at University, Clean-up Campaign AIDS Awareness Rally, Equality-Peace-Fraternity Rally on the occasion of DR. Babasaheb Ambedkar Mahaparinirvan Din, ‘Save and Educate Girl Child’ Rally, Water Conservation and Water Pollution Awareness Campaign, Kargil din Celebration International Literacy Day Rally, National Pulse Polio Vaccination Campaign, etc

  • Trekking and Mountaineering

    Adventure education has many positive outcomes for students like leadership, self-conceptualisation, academic inputs, personality development, interpersonal skills, and adventurous nature. The trekking activities in college began in 1980’s by our students and faculty members. They were exposed to the Himalayas and the Sahayadris. Some of the recently organized treks are Harishchandragad-Ratangad-Kalsubai, Himalaya, Rajgad-Raigad-Pratapgad, Rajgad-Torna-Shivtherghal-Raigad, Salher-Salota-Mulher, Purandher-Vajragad-Raigad, Rohida- Kenjalgad-Rayreshwar, Ajinkeytara-Sajjangad, Brahmagiri-Anjneri Fort, Ramsej Fort, Rajgad-Shivtherghal, etc. The trekking and adventure cell of our college is having Carry mat, Dome Tent, Rucksack, Sleeping Bags, 10 mm Rope, Carabineers, Mittons, etc.

  • Career Counselling and Placement Cell

    The CCPC was established in the year 2007 with the view of helping students to get useful and systematic guidance on career opportunities. The Career Guidance Committee chalks out various enrichment programs, counsel about various career options, and provide exposure and orientation that adds to the personality of students thereby helping them face the competition. An attempt is made to hold campus recruitments for the benefit of students pursuing professional and vocational courses of study.

  • Film and Drama Club

    Cinema has to be watched consciously, its aesthetics is unique. Consciously viewed cinema is relished by viewers. In order to cultivate film appreciation SB Film and Drama Club is established. Students and citizens can become its members. In this club world classic films are screened followed by lectures and deliberations on the same. Films by V. Shantaram, Raj Kapoor, Children of Heaven, and Bicycle Thieves are some of the films screened in the club. The club is a treat to cinema connoisseurs.

  • Cultural Committee

    The cultural department of the college always strives hard to develop hidden qualities of every student of the college. Department develops various skills like writing, elocution, debate, poetry recitation, dance, rangoli etc. among the students. Department has always encouraged students to participate in various competitions at State and National level. Many students of the department have received various state and national level awards. Department also organizes different workshops on various kinds of arts. Through different activities and competitions the department develops personality of students. By now the cultural department has produced many famous actors, singers, writers, poets, orators, debaters, anchors and social workers.

  • V. V. Yardi Elocution Competition

    In the memory of former head of the department and Principal of the college, the department of English has been conducting V.V. Yardi Elocution Competition since 2002 at in-house level. From 2013 the competition was conducted at inter college level in Aurangabad. It is a forum provided by the college for students to hone their linguistic skills. This is the only elocution competition in English that is conducted in this region. In 2017 the competition was conducted at district level with a great response of students from various colleges including medical, engineering and technical institutes also.

  • SB Trophy- State level Debating Competition

    Saraswati Bhuvan Educational Institute and Hyderabad Muktisangram/ Hyderabad Freedom Struggle Movement are deeply interconnected. In remembrance of this day, every year we organize state level debate competition. It was started in the year 2002. The themes for debate always are of contemporary relevance. The motive is to provide a platform for students to deliberate on socio-political-economic issues. In the last 16 years more than 500 teams and 1000 students from various colleges of Maharashtra have participated in this competition. Noted Speakers and Thinkers are invited for prize distribution.

  • Lokmanya Bal Gangadhar Tilak and Lokshahir Karmaveer Annabhau Sathe Elocution Competition

    From last 38 years the college has continued the tradition of organizing elocution competition every year on 1st August i.e. the death anniversary of Lokmanya Bal Gangadhar Tilak and birth anniversary of Lokshahir Karmaveer Annabhau Sathe. The Competition was started in 1979 by those teachers who taught languages and loved elocution. The objectives of this competition had been cognitive/intellectual development of the students, make them present a topic by studying it thoroughly and thereby create excellent speakers in the society.
